چکیده
The isolation technique is widely studied and applied in structural engineering due to its excellent seismic performance. However, the existing research mostly focuses on conventional structure under action of regular ground motions. In this paper, a story-adding structure, base-isolated isolated were simulated by using numerical simulation methods. dynamic response characteristics three structures near-fault pulse-like motions are analysed compared with far-fault results showed that base can significantly extend period main reduce upper structure. inter-story drift ratio, shear force, story acceleration all near-field larger than far-field earthquakes. Both damping Besides, properties better

Response of Buildings with Inclined First-Story Columns to Near-Fault Ground Motion
In this paper a simple model of a three story building with inclined first-story columns has presented. The stories are supposed to be rigid and are connected to axially rigid mass less columns by elasto-plastic rotational springs and linear rotational dampers. The considered model is subjected to horizontal component of fault normal pulse with different magnitudes and the governed nonlinear di...
متن کاملSeismic Rehabilitation of Liquid Storage Tanks using Friction Pendulum Base Isolation subjected to the Near-Fault Ground Motions
Cylindrical liquid storage tanks are considered as vital structures in industrial complex whose nonlinear dynamic behavior is of crucial importance. Some of these structures around the world have demonstrated poor seismic behavior over the last decades. There are several methods and techniques for rehabilitation and reducing damages in these structures which among them passive control devices, ...
متن کاملInfluence of Seismic Pounding on RC Buildings with and without Base Isolation System Subject to Near-Fault Ground Motions
Building pounding occurs between two adjacent buildings with small gap or without sufficient separation distance. It leads to damage buildings during earthquake due to impact. Many researchers have investigated building pounding based on impact force reduction and energy dissipation increase, when two buildings collide with each other. In numerical investigations, using specific link element, i...
متن کاملEvaluation of Nonlinear Response of Structures to Near-Fault Ground Motions and the Comparison of Results with Near-Fault Simulated Records
Near-fault ground motions have caused very much damage in the vicinity of seismic sources during recent earthquakes. It is well known that under specific circumstances, intensive ground shakings near fault ruptures may be characterized by short-duration impulsive motions. This pulse-type motion is generally particular to the forward direction, where the fault rupture propagates towards the site...
متن کاملGENERATION OF OPTIMIZED SPECTRUM COMPATIBLE NEAR-FIELD PULSE-LIKE GROUND MOTIONS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The existence of recorded accelerograms to perform dynamic inelastic time history analysis is of the utmost importance especially in near-fault regions where directivity pulses impose extreme demands on structures and cause widespread damages. But due to the scarcity of recorded acceleration time histories, it is common to generate proper artificial ground motions. In this paper an alternative ...
